I think my current fascination with Union Jack flags came at the last Coldplay Concert that I went to where Chris Martin and his group wore jackets with Union Jack flags. (See image left.) Decorating Ideas - Union Jack Flags
Union Jacks are ubiquitous in England of course but the British are coming here too. A Union Jack flag is not cause for treason in the USA anymore. Now that we have our independence, maybe it’s time we make up with the “Mother Country.”
It’s a global world we live in. The world is flat but our Union Jack flag merchandise isn’t. Union Jack flags wrap around our mugs imported from the UK for example. Now you can really feel British when you sip your cuppa tea.
I found our Union Jack flag cushions and pillows on a tour thru Selfridges in London. There were stacks and stacks of them. I decided to imported them across the pond here to the US from the vendor. Since then, I have seen them in all sorts of magazines, and in lovely summer houses on Cape Cod. In fact, the spotting of the Union Jack pillows has become a sport of mine. It would be better if I could just relax and enjoy a pillow but what fun would that be?
Then there are our Union Jack flag doormats. What a great way to wave a flag outside your home without needing a flagpole. And the doormats also offer the Keep Calm and Carry On message, a lovely doormat greeting.
