Kitchen Aprons For Men & Women

Ticking stripe fabric kitchen apron made in Italy by an Italian family in business since 1842. The family actually still weaves the fabric for these cooking aprons on their antique looms. Like this old family business, this is a cooking apron designed to last a long time. The ticking stripe fabric kind of gives this chef apron the look of a vintage apron.

Bib Apron: 23" wide x 34" long plus straps. With extra large front apron pocket. Suitable for men or women.

Inspiration:

We loved Julie and Julia with Meryl Streep as Julia Child. Meryl looks great in a kitchen apron as did Julia Child. EllynAnne Geisel writes on her blog about visiting Julia Child and taking her a kitchen apron.

In Geisel's own words: "I arrived bearing two gifts: an apron I'd sewn especially for Ms. Child and a bottle of expensive champagne. Ms. Child unwrapped the apron - at least two sizes too small and ruffly-edged - held it up and in her distinctive voice said, "Oh dearie, dainty doesn't do in the kitchen." Then she sweetly handed it back to me. I quickly handed her hostess gift #2, along with a jumbled sort of pre-happy-ninetieth-birthday wish. Sliding the bottle out of its bag, she rewarded this present with a nod and murmered notation that this was one gift whe would not be returning. Thank God I'd brought a backup to the apron."

Mrs. Child told EllynAnne that she had not worn a cooking apron until she met her husband and they started cooking together. They cooked together for the next 50 years! Our ticking stripe kitchen aprons are good gifts for men or women. Bon Appetit!
