Indian Pillows ![Indian Pillows]()
Block Print Decorative Throw PillowsBlock print Indian pillows are a wonderful expression of an artist’s hand. In India, where ours are printed, there are many levels of skilled block printers. Our blue lapis Indian pillows are expertly done and timeless. They mix with brown, blue and beige decorating schemes beautifully. Although the pillow cover material is flat, the cotton is reminiscent of woven materials with texture, like raffia, rope and sisal. I find block print patterns mesmerizing. There is something so lovely about a decorative throw pillow that is made by hand. See also our mirrored Sheesha throw pillow.
Our Indian pillows come with pillow inserts.
Cover has zipper to remove insert to clean it.

Indian Pillows
As you know, from 1858 – 1947, India was controlled by Great Britain. I have not been to India but I have visited another British protectorate, Bermuda many times. I was delighted on my last trip there to find that the Annual Bermuda Garden House Tour was in full swing. I immediately signed up and went on a very inspiring tour of some of the most glorious pink, yellow and green bungalows on the Island. There I saw a lot of West Indian influences including block print Indian pillows and fabrics and much more.
One can see why the British were so taken with East India. The West Indian design in Bermuda echoes that fascination. I saw breathtaking manicured and wild gardens. But the highlight of the tour for me was seeing the decorating scheme inside each home. My favorite room on the tour was a living room in an old sea captain’s house. The sofa, curtains and decorative throw pillows were all Indian pillows in blue, beige and brown block prints. This is not a run of the mill color combination and I fell in love with it. The colors were delightful with the shiny mahogany furnishings and polished floors and beams. The view of the sea didn’t hurt either. Maybe that’s why I love Indian pillows so much. Even in the middle of NYC, they remind me of that striking Bermuda decorating scheme.
