There are many books on Vita Sackville West’s white outdoor gardens at Sissinghurst. |  | | My personal favorite book related to outdoor living is The Garden Room by Timothy Mawson because it’s more about garden and patio decorations than actual gardening. Mawson put it well when he said he is one “more inclined to green thoughts than to green thumbs.” I can relate. I can’t garden and I live in the concrete jungle of Manhattan but I love the idea of a garden or patio room with all the decorative patio accessories for the outdoors that involves, outdoor furniture, garden urns, paper lanterns, indoor outdoor rugs, and of course decorative patio pillows. |  | Mawson’s book has wonderful photos of garden rooms of people with a great flair for landscapes indoors and out, like Bill Blass, Bunny Williams and Horst P. Horst to name a few. But you don’t have to be famous to have a little piece of nature. There are so many styles of patio decor, covered outdoor or screened! We’d love a picture of yours to inspire us.
