Your Home Interior Reflects Your InteriorOne of my favorite magazine shoots was of an editor’s nightstand. The editor was in bed on a set of very pretty and very expensive pink sheets but on her nightstand, was a bottle of the same moisturizing lotion I use surrounded by various carefully edited decor accessories. The shot brought home for me that we all have certain needs in common. It wasn’t just the ordinary lotion we both needed that attracted me. It was the whole picture. The nightstand, the lamp, the reading glasses, the decorative pillows on the bed. All the decor accessories surrounding the lotion made ordinary living decorative. That bottle of hand lotion looked like it was placed there as carefully as the attractive bric a brac decor accessories. It made me realize no matter how fancy or decorative everything is, it has a purpose. The best decorators realize a house is to live in, not just to look at. |
