Another song that comes to mind as I write this is The Times They Are A Changin'. Ok, so I am dating myself a little. I started Decorative Things in 1988, before the internet was around. I've been Keeping Calm and Carrying on for a long time.
In the earlier years of the business, I designed products and sold them to retailers (like Barneys, Bergdorfs, Ralph Lauren, Burberrys, The Metropolitan Museum and thousands of Mom & Pops). Now, I've become the retailer by launching decorativethings.com. 2010 was our second Christmas as a full-fledged etailer. I love interfacing directly with my end customers all day, and sometimes night, via email or on the phone. And I love how fast I can react to customer's mindsets. Our Keep Calm and Carry On merchandise is a case in point.
We started with a few Keep Calm and Carry On tote bags and now we sell Keep Calm and Carry On posters framed and unframed , Keep Calm and Carry On mugs, Keep Calm and Carry On t shirts, Keep Calm and Carry On dish towels, Keep Calm and Carry On bumper stickers (Dad's idea), Keep Calm and Carry On kitchen towels and lots more.Keep Calm and Carry On posters are a true example of good things staying around. The Keep Calm and Carry On poster design was originally created in 1939. But boy does it resonate today.
