What makes Decorative Things tick you may ask? When I was last in London, I discovered some quotes from British retailer Gordon Selfridge on the wall of the store's offices that sum it up pretty well. I want to share them with you:

I founded Decorative Things in 1988, before online home decor stores existed. In the earlier years of the business, I designed and manufactured decorative accessories for the home and sold them to retailers (like Barneys, Bergdorfs, Ralph Lauren, Burberrys, The Metropolitan Museum and thousands of Mom & Pops). Now, I've become the retailer by launching decorativethings.com. 2012 will be our third Christmas as a full-fledged retailer. I enjoy interfacing directly with my customers all day, and sometimes night, via email or on the phone. And I love how fast I can react to customer's mindsets. Our British Keep Calm and Carry On items are a case in point.
We started with a few Keep Calm and Carry On tote bags and now we sell over 50 Keep Calm and Carry On gifts and decorative accents and many other British goods. The Keep Calm and Carry On poster design was originally created in 1939. But boy does it resonate today.
Many of my customers find decorativethings.com as a result of the wonderful press we get. Recently our home decor products have been featured in Oprah, People, Bon Appetit, Martha Stewart, All You, Elle Decor, House Beautiful, Ok, Star, Rachel Ray, Parade and on MSNBC's Morning Joe.
